Alfred Music Publishing Company focuses on music education at all levels including a seperate link on their website just for homeschoolers! You can view their products at http://www.alfredpublishing.com/frameset.cfm?sub=homeschool. These resources may interest those of you who want your children to have music exposure and good music education from the very beginning, but just don’t know where to start. Most of their products include a CD which acts like a tutorial for both children and mom. Just pop the CD in and sing or play along! Your local music stores can order any Alfred Pub. product for you. If you use any of their material for homeschooling, I’d love to hear how it is going!
Or, you can just teach your child your own favorite songs! My son’s favorite song to sing is Rose of Sharon. He sings it on his own at least eight times a day! Another is the David Song about David and Goliath and his third favorite that he sings on his own is The Farmer and the Dell. We are trying to teach him new ones so he doesn’t drive us totally crazy each day singing the same song over and over! Still, I love that he sings nearly on pitch at age 2! So, start early singing to and with your children!
Thanks for the link. There’s a lot of great stuff on that site. My 4-yr. old isn’t singing on pitch, but then again, neither am I.
Operative word here is “nearly” on pitch.
My husband has taught my son all of of these songs and more so he gets all the credit! My little guy will even sing himself to sleep for naps sometimes when I’m teaching lessons. Very cute!
