Many people today lose their hair because of cancer treatment. Britney Spears lost her hair to a worse kind of cancer; cancer of the heart. The news media predicts that she is on a path to self-destruction, but she always has been. Any kind of life lived godless and immoral is a self-destructive path. The heart is full of deceitful and wicked things the Bible says. We are more aware than ever that the things in her heart are eating her up and her outside appearance is starting to look more like who she is on the inside. The world is watching, but will they see the message of what living a life void of morals does to a person? It isn’t pretty.
Shaving her head won’t cure this kind of cancer. There’s only one who can rid her heart of all its wickness and sin and that is Christ. Isn’t it wonderful how the power of God’s love and cleansing is that big! It is not impossible for God to love the sinner. God’s demonstration toward us while we were yet sinners is what prompts me to open up my heart a bit more and pray for and care about the people God has brought into my pathway. Oh, they aren’t as famous or desperate as Britney, but they still have that same kind of cancer; cancer of the heart. The good news is: there is a cure! Who are you telling?
So true! I have been shaking my head at the news each time her name crops up. Pray for her kids too!
It is an amazing thought for me, that were it not for the grace of God, I could be in her same situation. When I was young and unsaved, I wanted to be a rock star. My parents always encouraged me to pursue my dreams, whatever they might be.
I think of these verses from Psalm 40:
“He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.”
Amen! and Amen!!!
One of our duties in “telling” is convincing them that they have cancer! It’s hard to sell the cure when no one thinks they have a life-threatening disease. That was a good reminder to me that I’ve been cured of something deadly, not just spiffed up a little.
Crystal, I’m glad you’re not a rock star
Me too! Though, at least I would be on pitch more than most of the “musicians” promoted in today’s society. I joke with my husband when we are watching tv, “I wonder who told him/her that he/she could sing?” Pitiful!
