A couple of months ago, I got an email informing me that I could view my friend’s wedding pictures if I registered in something called “Facebook.” Now I’m getting emails from people I already know, requesting friendship on “facebook.” I finally caved to cyber-pressure and added a picture of myself.
Are you hooked…on facebook?

Hilarious! Nice Macs.
It’s hilarious, Dana!
Oh Yeh!…I get requests from my little nieces and nephews to join facebook clubs like Pirates vs. Ninjas, and from the adults its facebook clubs like, “What’s cooking for dinner” where people take pictures of their dinners and put them on facebook for everyone to see (that would be my sister-in-law in Georgia).
I admit I did join the MTNRA (Music Teachers National Rollerskating Association) where another one of my sister-in-laws is moderator. So, what does that say for the family I married into? My conclusion: there’s no shortage of creativity! I think facebook is like self-expression, but it is funny how little people actually say on it so maybe it’s actually closer to legalized graffiti than real communication! Still, it helps me to keep up with the lives of so many people all at once!
So, I’m glad you made the plunge into the land of Facebook! Before Daniel accepted the position as Areospace Engineer for NASA, he considered working for Facebook. In fact, the administrative assistant on Daniel’s hall at NASA quit to work for Facebook. It is based in Palo Alto (about 20 minutes from where we live…well we do live in Silicon Valley so everything else computer related is here too…Ebay is just 10 minutes away from us.
Even though Daniel could’ve made 30% more than he is now if he got a job with Facebook, he chose NASA because the thought of creating solutions to airtraffic problems that we will be facing 30 yrs. from now seemed like the more significant thing to do with his time, and the hours are way more flexible, so it means more family time too.
So, I’ll be on the lookout for an invitation to join your wall Dana…
Yes, computers can take over our time way too much though…this week I had a new program to learn for our personal finances, and a new version of music software to download and learn how to use. That was an all-consuming project right there. Every time my 2-yr. old sees me working at the computer, he asks for his programs…he has Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh programs that teach him colors, letters, shapes, etc. Can you believe the little guy even knows how to start them by himself?
